Fr. Michael O’Connor, O.P.

Fr. Michael is the Director of Liturgical Music at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

He has been involved in Catholic Liturgical Music for the past 30 years, as a singer, organist, choir director, composer and arranger.

He is also the proud co-editor of the St. Michael Hymnal, which he has worked on for the past 20 years.

Most of Fr. Michael’s work has been with all-male scholas, in his Religious Order and now in the Diocesan Seminary where he works. Thus, much of the music offered on this website is written or arranged for male choirs.

Fr. Michael also holds a Doctorate in Sacred Theology and has taught theology at Providence College, the Dominican House of Studies, and presently, at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary.

In addition to his liturgical music work, and his teaching, he most loves to engage the preaching charism of the Dominican Order, to which he belongs. He frequently preaches retreats and days of recollection, in addition to giving classes and conferences to diocesan groups and religious communities.

Fr. Michael is always very happy to respond to requests for liturgical music work, in addition to teaching and preaching requests. To contact him with any inquiries or requests, please use the CONTACT page on this website.
